      I had this notebook for about two months. Let's start with the positive things:

1) Rock-solid stable. We never shut it down, no problems at all. It "wakes up from sleep in just 2 or 3 seconds. Enough, when I re-install the new software.

      Out the window of this unit has worked without problems. This is the best notebook I've ever owned. Has anyone heard from across the room I saw a video and says "that the computer is a great sound." It 'nice to have my numbers back to numeric keypad to cracking.

-Size is AMAZING (it might even be a scam, for lack of selection of cases available)
-Speed - The Core i5 430 million (2.26) with the Turbo Boost is nice, put my Core 2 Duo E6600 (2.4).
RAM - 4 GB DDR3 expandable up to 8 GB.
-Graphics - GeForce GTS 330M GDDR5 1GB card is a great mobile video.

The computer works great, but after a few weeks one of the computers have dim the lights and turned off when off. I took about three weeks to make a decision on the laptop. I wanted a laptop with Vista 64 bit, external SATA, HDMI, good size screen, 4GB of RAM, built in webcam, and styling. I do not do PC games (I) prefer the console, and was on a budget with a $ 650 rebate. I love the chrome and black on this laptop like the HP logo lit. I have the computer for 3 days and I was very pleased with my purchase very satisfied. The fan is really too quiet (I hope that remains). Only negative is that is installed with a lot of extra crap, but that is on most new laptops. I will try to see from Windows 7 and if it is a better operating system perception. I would have given 5 stars if the graphics card was better. Good stuff!

After trying and returning an HP Mini 1000 from Verizon I ordered an X340 from Amazon and have not regretted it. Although I think the new 11.6 "form factor machines (eg Acer 751h), will be ideal for the train, I wanted the perfect ultra-portable for the home, there was a bit 'more power and a larger screen. As others have said while this car costs twice the 10-inch netbook is a fraction of the price of a MacBook Air or Sony Vaio with specifications very similar.

Just one of these and love it. Small enough that it is easy to travel with, but large enough to be easy to use as your primary computer, if you want to work on a laptop.

This thing is fast and the new operating system is solid. Love the back-up automatically, which saved me a couple of times. There is also a great selection of open source software, so you can dress this thing practically free.
